First thing I did when I got the proof was to take pictures of it, then bring it into my department and show it to my colleagues, who then immediately got to hold it. Not exactly like having a baby, but pretty exciting, nonetheless.
The first mention in the press is out, on the Naugatuck Patch! The book is in the process of being offered on the Amazon website, and will also be available through Amazon.uk.
Hope to see some of you on June 21. Huge news is that Jane Lyons is flying all the way over from Ireland to be there! We’ll be going to the Irish Festival in New Haven that weekend too!
Wishing you all well,
Janet

Can’t believe the fun you are going to be having! Good Irish company, lots of song and dance. Have a great time.
Sue, will be thinking of you! Will even be bringing Jane to your ancestor’s graves in NH!
Ah Janet – what you are not saying is that earlier in the evening you told us all you’d been published I’d been talking to a friend Stateside and said I never wanted to go back to America – and then an hour later, I saw your message and said to myself “That’s it Lyons, you’re off to America”
This ‘going to America’ is one of the most important things I’ve ever done and I’m going, mainly because you have published your book, I just so want to see this and you.
Than you for the opportunity, I’m so looking forward to my trip
Jane
And I am so, so thrilled that you are coming! As Sue said, we will have a great time! Can’t wait to introduce you to my world and to all the folks in NH!
Congrats Janet….I’ll hit Amazon the day it is available….can’t wait!!!

Kathy! So great that you’re checking in here. I will call you! (Have company through tomorrow) That you sent me an old postcard to your parents from mine that they sent on my parents’ 25th wedding anniversary vacation in Mexico was unbelievable. (Love seeing my father’s handwriting all these years later again. Have one tiny scrap of his writing saved from a 1973 yellow lined pad.) Thank you so much. Love, Janet
I have notes from my Dad and my Mom’s old adress book and a notebook she kept; I know how valuable they are to me so I knew the minute I sawt the post card I had to send it to you. Take care……enjoy your trip to Ct…….K
Hi Kathy, It was wonderful. I’ll call you again soon. Janet
Lovely stories. I am a grandaughter of Katherine Maher. Can’t wait to see the book
Hello Lisa, Glad you like the stories. I am out of the book now and need to reorder. Will begin a Paypal account on this blog.
Which Katherine Maher are you related to?
Janet
Katherine whose sisters are Hazel and Lullian from Naugatuck.
Ah! Sorry I did not recognize your name right off! Lucille and Steve came to the signing and bought four books, one for each of the Heckleman siblings, and one for himself, so no doubt you’ll see it soon. Hope you enjoy it!
I find the information interesting, my great grandmother Maher , she married Martin Bergin. He was the son of Patt Bergin they came to US they lived in Poughkeepsie NY. My other grandmother Delia (Bridget) Martin came from Co. Galway her parents were Michael son of Dominck Martin and Bridget Feen(e)y.
Mary Anne, there were Bergins in the area of Connecticut that I have studied too. Most of the early ones were from County Laois. Glad you are liking the blog. Thanks for the note. – Janet
